According to Pol Col Paisit, the two men were part of a gang comprising Malaysian and Thai men, all with Thai wives. Then the gang, which had at least 5 members, made phone calls via the internet to intended victims. They were asked to transfer money to "DSI accounts" while they were investigated for links to drug dealing. Eight people were convinced to transfer a total of 5 million baht to the gang. A victim from Chon Buri had been gulled into handing over 1.3 million baht, Pol Col Paisit said.
